Soccer Mom - Julie Foudy

With two World Cup wins and two Olympic gold medals, legendary soccer player (and mom) Julie Foudy continues to play an important role in advancing soccer

Julie Foudy made soccer history when she and the U.S. women’s national soccer team won the inaugural women’s World Cup in 1991 against Norway in China. To follow that up, only five years later, when women’s soccer was first introduced to the Olympics, Foudy and the team—including fellow legends Mia Hamm, Joy Fawcett and Michelle Akers—took gold in the Atlanta Games. And perhaps the most memorable to U.S. soccer fans was the 1999 World Cup win over China in front of 90,000-plus spectators at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
